Behind the bandname Document 6 stands the “sixth document” of the “Dresden Codex” which describes the existence of Ah Puch (a demon) in the Mayan culture.

The Dresden Codex is the oldest and most important book of the Mayan culture. Ah puch (also called Ah ouh puc) was a Mayan demon commonly depicted as a skeleton with a crocodile back. This representation can be found on the cove of the album “Grind (r)evolution” again.

The Dresden Codex consists of 39 double-sided leaves of fig tree bark, originally folded as a leporello, strips with a total length of 3.56 meters.
It contains various almanacs, divination calendars, astronomical tablets, ritual regulations, and numerous representations of deities, and is a key document for Mayan hieroglyphics and Mayan astronomy and chronology.

DOCUMENT 6 kommt vom sechsten Dokument des Dresdner Kodex, welches die Existenz von Ah Puch (einem Dämon) in der Maya Kultur beschreibt.

Der Dresdner Codex ist das älteste und wichtigste Buch der Maya-Kultur.
Ah puch (auch Ah ouh puc genannt) war ein Maya-Dämon, der üblicherweise als Skelett mit Krokodilrücken dargestellt wurde. Diese Darstellung findet sich auf dem Cover unseres Albums “Grind (r)evolution” wieder.

Der Dresdner Codex besteht aus 39 doppelseitig beschriebenen, ursprünglich als Leporello gefalteten Blättern aus Feigenbaumrinde, Streifen mit einer Gesamtlänge von 3,56 m. Er enthält verschiedene Almanache, Weissagungskalender, astronomische Tafeln, rituelle Vorschriften und zahlreiche Götterdarstellungen und ist ein Schlüsseldokument für die Maya-Hieroglyphen und der Astronomie und Zeitrechnung der Maya.

He was the demon of destruction and under the name of Uac mitun ahau he was also considered the “Lord of the six hells”. Ah puch was accompanied by a dog (as a sign of loyalty) and the Moan bird (an owl-like mythical cloud demon as a sign of knowledge).

Er war der Dämon der Zerstörung und galt unter dem Namen Uac mitun ahau auch als „Herr der sechs Höllen“.
Begleitet wurde Ah puch von einem Hund (als Zeichen der Loyalität) und dem Moan-Vogel (einem eulenähnlichem mythischem Wolkendämon als Zeichen des Wissens)

The 6 hells are not understood as a place as usual today, but more as a state of mind or soul. In this state of mind or soul, the victim can no longer suppress all injustice and cruelty.

Die 6 Höllen werden nicht wie heute üblich als Ort, sondern mehr als Geistes- oder Seelenzustand verstanden, in welchem das Opfer alle Ungerechtigkeit und Grausamkeit der Welt nicht mehr verdrängen kann.
Alle Ungerechtigkeit und Grausamkeit wird wahrhaftig und total erkannt, verstanden und vor allem verspürt.
Dadurch erleiden die Opfer Ah Puch´s bis in alle Ewigkeit unendliche Qualen.
